Obtaining The Favor of and Spotting Your Future Spouse

Advice from a “now funny” story.

Background:  I was greatly disturbed by my apartment unit tenant to the point of losing sleep.  I couldn’t communicate with the tenant for they don’t speak English.  Finally, I Google translated a letter in two languages asking courteously for cooperation in solving the matter.  I placed the letter in a decorative gift bag (so as not to appear threatening) and hung it on their door knob.  The tenant could have responded harshly, in retaliation or by ignoring my request.

My closest friends all knew of the situation and prayed with me for favor that the tenant would respond well and help the situation.  I went to bed that night praying more.  
 
The next day, I received a returned note in the same decorative bag on my door knob.  The tenant was completely unaware of the situation, was very apologetic and stated two things they would change!  I was so elated over the kind and cooperative response! To this day, the situation is in great standing and I can now laugh about it!  We actually communicated a few times  sharing about each other’s lives; we now smile and laugh in the parking lot.

Reflecting on this tenant story, I thought, if we prayed and received incredible favor in that situation, what would happen if more ladies prayed and prayed together for the favor of the man they are to marry.  Luke 2:52 says “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

Ladies, pray for favor with God & favor with man….your man.  And you don’t need favor with five men…just one…"the one".  You don’t need all that extra attention, drama or broken hearts.

Ladies pray: “God, give my future spouse eyes to see who I am internally, externally and who I am in the Spirit.  Let him see whose I am and who I worship.  Let him see who I am and who I will become in you Lord.  Let him see who I will become as his wife.”

Men, look at Genesis 24:61-66, which winds up the servant’s search for and bringing home a wife (Rebekah) for Isaac.

61 “Then Rebekah and her attendants got ready and mounted the camels and went back with the man.  So the servant took Rebekah and left.  62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev.  63  He went out to the field one evening to meditate,f]'>and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. 64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel 65 and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?”
“He is my master,” the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.
66  Then the servant told Isaac all he had done. 67 Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.”

Ladies, cultivate a heart that is willing to water camels (Genesis 24:46) and be a helpmate.  “She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.”   ~Proverbs 31:12

Gentlemen, look who’s watering and coming around on the camels.  

Pray for the favor of the husband God has for you.  Pray your eyes and heart will be open to the wife God has for you.
